Here is a list of 12 fun things to do on a party bus (besides drinking):
1. What is your theme party?
Does the guest of honor have a favorite thing? Turn that into your bus party theme and have everyone come dressed accordingly.
The sky is the limit when it comes to themes:
- Princess Party
- Back To College
- Toga Party
- Cowboys and Indians
- Come As You Were
- Karaoke Party
2. Decorate your Party Bus
Along the lines of choosing a theme and turning it into a costume contest of sorts, don’t forget to decorate your party bus to match the awesome attire that is sure to show up to the party.
Use balloons, streamers, and banners. They are all easy to tape up and take down later without damaging the finishes of the interior or incurring a cleaning fee.
3. Board, card, and Trivia Games
There are plenty of board games that you can have passengers play on your party bus as you travel to your destination. Depending on whether or not your party bus has tables, you might opt for games that don’t require a tabletop or find the digital version of games and bring along tablets to play on.
Here are a few suggestions:
- Apples to Apples
- Cards Against Humanity
- Old Maid
- Go Fish
- The Game of Life (there is a great tablet version of this)
4. Dance revolution
Create an awesome playlist of music that the group can dance to (safely of course- keep in mind the bus is in motion). Don’t forget to check with the rental company what type of sound system the bus is equipped with. Plan accordingly and bring whatever device you need along with an auxiliary cord if needed.
5. Tall Tales from a Greyhound
Find a fictional book and have passengers take turns reading paragraphs from one chapter only. Then let your passengers guess what book the excerpt is from.
6. Have a sing-off
A karaoke contest is a fun team builder and bonding experience amongst friends. Divide your passengers into 4 groups and have them prepare a song to perform (this can be chosen from the theme or of the group’s choosing). Give them about 15 minutes to rehearse and then let the competition begin.
7. The coloring isn’t just for kids
The coloring is a past time that is making a comeback in a big way. Adult coloring books are designed to create a more calm and Zen environment. Bring along a stack of coloring books, or print off pages for FREE, and give your passengers something to do that will pass the time.
8. What’s in the bag
Women are notorious for having random things in their purses and handbags. The host can create a list before the bus ride begins. Once the bus starts moving, separate the group into two teams. Start calling out items that you need. Each team needs to search through their purses and the first team to get the item to the caller gets a point. This can go on the entire trip and get pretty interesting!
9. An old-fashioned game of telephone
Remember the game telephone? Bring back memories with this nostalgic bus game. Start at the front of the bus with a simple sentence and see how it evolves by the time it makes it to the back of the bus.
Another classic game that doesn’t get old. Give your charades a theme that matches your party, or just pull from a pile of random topics. You can separate into pairs or teams. Make the prize interesting and something that can be claimed at the next stop.
11. License plate scavenger hunt
Create a list of license plate attributes or states to find, separate the passengers into groups, and then have them hunt for items on the list. Or have your group be on the lookout for vanity plates. The person with the most unique license plate wins the prize.
12. Head’s Up!
Download the game Head’s Up and bring along a tablet. This game was made popular by the Ellen show. From naming celebrities to singing, to silly accents- guess the card on your head from clues given by your partner before time runs out.
As you can see, there are plenty of fun things to do on a party bus (besides alcohol), you just need to use a little creativity, participate fully, and not be afraid to have a little fun!
